About The Creative Annex

Angela and Michelle began The Creative Annex with the aim of building a place where people can have the opportunity to be creative. When you visit,  you will discover a relaxed working art and craft studio, where you can explore and learn, discovering what creativity means for you.

The Creative Annex offers a variety of workshops in painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, mending and the up-cycling of clothing. There are also the opportunity to bring along your own projects and work on these in a friendly group atmosphere. Alternatively you can gather together a group of friends and create with a party vibe.

This is a well resourced space for many creative and varied endeavours, and workshops include most of the materials you will require.

Our small classes provide opportunities to explore materials and techniques, with personalised attention from either Michelle or Angela. It is all about learning through experience.

The aim is for you to relax and immerse yourself in the creative process and finding inspiration in those around you.

About

Michelle Cole and Angela Forrest

Michelle

Hello, my name is Michelle Cole and like Angela I have been making and creating from a young age. As a creative person I’ve always enjoyed spending time exploring the visual world and how I can represent that, enlivening the space around me.

As a child I learnt to sew and knit from my grandmothers and mother, whilst watching my father build.

With a training in Fine Arts, I am now an Illawarra based printmaker working in relief and intaglio techniques. I have participated in several group exhibitions and find inspiration in the art others create.

Working in primary school education and training adults over the decades has given me opportunities to work alongside others, sharing the joy of learning with the ‘Aha!’ moments.

Working at the Creative Annex alongside Angela to provide people with the opportunity to explore their creativity in a relaxed and social atmosphere is enlivening. Exploring how to create, problem solve and make adds joy to my world.

Angela

Hi, my name is Angela Forrest, I’m a creative spirit who has enjoyed making and playing with paint all her life.

From an early age I was taught crafting by generations of women in my family which created a strong foundation, for me as a keen learner.

I formally trained in Colour and Design and then Fashion Design which led me to a career in fine art and education.

I have worked with Interior Designers completing large canvases for hotel foyers and relished creating commissioned artwork for the homes of others.

I enjoy working in groups, sharing skills and experiences which is why I am here at the Creative Annex with Michelle. Our vibrant hub provides many positive things, most importantly connection.

The creative process and the power of colour can have on people’s lives propels me daily.
